1. Joseph Prentice was b. c. 1820 in NJ. He appears in the 1880 census in Wooster, Wayne Co., OH with his wife and son. Joseph does not appear in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census, and no other Prentice appears in the 1880 census in Wayne Co., OH.

He m. Julia. She was b. c. 1824, NJ, with both parents b. in NJ.

Joseph and Julia had 1 or more children, including:

  1. Edward I. Prentice, b. Oct 1863, OH. . . . . . . . [2]

2. Edward I. Prentice, b. Oct 1863, OH, and d. 1904 , WI. Bur. in Scotch Hills Cem., Albany, Green Co., WI. He does not appear in the 1870 census. By 1900, at the age of about 37, Edward had moved to Spring Valley, Rock Co., WI where he appears with his wife.

He m. Sarah L. Spenser c. 1905 as her 2nd husband. She had ;a prior marriage to Norman Blackmer Loomis. Sarah was b. 11 Jun 1860 in Brodhead, Green Co., WI, and d. there on 11 Oct 1910. No children are shown in the 1880 census, but living with them was Sarah's father, James W. Spenser, b. Mar 1806, VT. Also living with them was Bessie Loomis, called a step-daughter, b. Jul 1882 in WI; she may have been a daughter of Sarah's by a prior marriage.

In reviewing our excerpts from the 1900 WI census, no other Prentice appears in Rock Co., WI.
