1. John Prentice, chr. 29 Mar 1812, Carluke. He is tentatively identified as the John Prentice shown in the 1851 and 1861 census in Libberton, Lanarkshire, as b. c. 1811-13, Carluke, with his wife and family.

He m. Janet Tait (per Liz Skipper, email, 13 Sep 2008), b. c. 1816, Peebles, Peeblesshire. Known children:

  5. William Prentice, b. c. 1849, Libberton, Peeblesshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1851 and 1861 census.
  6. Margaret Prentice, b. c. 1856, Libberton, Peeblesshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1861 census.

  3. George Prentice, b. c. 1873, Symington, Lanarkshire. At home in Walston in the 1881 census. He may be the George Prentice shown in the 1891 census in Cockpen, Midlothian as b. c. 1873, Lamington, Lanarkshire, an unmarried Farm Servant.
  4. Robert Prentice, b. c. 1875, Walston, Lanarkshire. At home in Walston in the 1881 census. At home in Carrington in the 1891 census.
