Christine Hadden brings to our attention the following family:
1. James Prentice was b. c. 1850 in Scotland. He emigrated to New Jersey sometime before 1873 where his son, John, was born. He may have emigrated after 1870 because he does not appear in the 1870 census.
James later appears in the 1880 census in Carterville, Williamson Co., IL as a Machinist and with his wife, Elizabeth, b. c. 1850, Scotland, and son:
- John Prentice, b. c. 1873, NJ.
