1. Hans Prentis was b. c. 1835 in Hanover, Germany. He immigrate to the United States at some date between 1862 and 1865. He appears in the 1880 census with his wife and family.
He m. Jacobine, b. c. 1837, also Hanover. Children (per 1880 census):
- George Prentis, b. c. 1862, Hanover, Germany. He does not appear in the 1900, 1910, 1920 or 1930 census.
- Dora Prentis, b. c. 1865, NJ. There were 4 females named Dora with that approximate birth year in the 1900 census in the State of NY.
- John Prentis, b. c. 1867, NY. Not in 1900 or 1910 census.
- Jacobine Prentis, b. c. 1871, NY. No female of that first name and approx. birth year appears in the 1900 census.
- William Prentis, b. c. 1876, NY. Not in 1900 or 1910 census.
- Anne Prentis, b. c. 1878, NY.
No other Prentis appears in the 1880 NY or NJ census who was born in Hanover or Germany.
