Update of 6 Dec 2005: By email of 4 Dec 2005, Joyce Prentice informs us that Alford V. Prentice is the same person as Louis Vergil Prentice. Heis a descendant of William Prentis of Williamsburg.
1. Alford V. Printis (Alfred V. Prentis?) was b. Apr 1866 in AL. He appears in the 1900 census in Franklin Co., AL, with his wife, Susan O., b. Apr 1872 in AL, and children:
- Rossie G. Printis (dau.), b. May 1888, AL.
- Sussie/Susan Printis, b. Dec 1891, AL.
- Charles E.Printis, b. Nov 1893, AL. . . . . . . [2]
- Rather Printis, b. Apr 1894, AL. He does not appear inthe 1920 or 1930 census.
- Collie A. Printis (son), b. May 1896, AL. . . . . . . . [3]
2. Charles E. Printis, b. Nov 1893, AL. He may, or may not, be the Charlie Prentis, b. c. 1893, TN, who appears in the 1920 census in Madison Co., AL, with Lottie Prentis, probably his wife, b. c. 1898, TN. He also may, or may not, be the Charles Prentice, b. c. 1894, AL, who appears in the 1930 census in Huntsville, Madison Co., Al census with his wife, Lottie, b. c. 1899, TN, and children:
- Rather Prentice, b. c. 1921, AL. . . . . . . . . . [4]
- Charles Prentice Jr., b. c. 1924, AL.
- William Prentice, b. c. 1927, AL. He may, or may not, be the William Prentice shown in the SSDI as b. 6 Jun 1926, who obained his SSDI# in AL, and who d. c. Jan 1985 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.
- Carline Prentice, b. c. 1928, AL.
- Maroilene Prentice, b. c. 1929,AL.
3. Collie A. Printis (son), b. May 1896, AL. He is likely the Colie H. Prentis who appears in the 1930 census in Sumpter, Williamsburg, SC as b. c. 1895, AL, with his wife, Hattie, and children:
- Danail/Danial Prentis, b. c. 1916
- Lima(?) Prentis, b. c. 1918
4. Rather Prentice, b. c. 1921, AL. He m. Gladys L. Dickinson. She was b. 1 Aug 1930, daughter of Sancho Dickinson and Vera E. Hackney (Vera's grandmother's maiden name was Acker). Rather and Gladys had two children (per Karen Acker, email, 7 Aug 2004):
- William Charles Prentice, b. 22 Sep 1953 Leeds, AL.
- Cathy Jean Prentice, b. 11 Feb 1955 Leeds, AL.
