Original Article: We are helping Glenda Robinson, with the aid of Anna Arrol, in tracing her Prentice family tree. Here is what we have so far:

1. John Prentice was b. 1802. Son:

1. William Prentice, chr. 18 April 1841, Prior Marston, Warwichshire. . . [2]

2. William Prentice chr 18 April 1841 in Priors Marston, Warwickshire, England, and d. Sept 1920. He m. Theodosia. William and Theodosia, immigrated to New Zealand in 1874, arriving in Wellington on 11 July 1874. He had 3 or more children, including the following:

1. William John Prentice, b. 1872. . . . . . . . [3]
2. Thomas Prentice, b. 12 Jun 1875 either in in England or NZ.
3. May Prentice, b. 1876 either in England or NZ.
4. (Perhaps 4 other children per Adele (Prentice) Williams, email, 15 Jul 2002.)

3. William John Prentice was b. 1872 in Alcester, Warwickshire, England. Alcester is about 25 miles from Priors Marston. William d. 16 Oct 1952 in New Plymouth, NZ at the age of about 80. He emigrated to New Zealand at the age of 3, probably with his parents and probably with siblings. He spent his entire working life on the wharf in New Plymouth, NZ.

William m. Annie Louisa (Jacklin) Wood, dau. of Martha Jane Jacklin. When her mother, Martha, died, Annie was only a small child and was raised by her grandmother and took her name. Annie's name on her marriage certificate is given as "Annie Louisa Jacklin". William and Annie had 12 children:

1. Francis William Prentice, b. 8 May 1897. He had 1 or more children, including:
   1. Les Prentice. He had 2 children:
      1. Donald Ewen Prentice, b. 14 Oct 1944 in New Plymouth, NZ. He m. Lynette Ellen Humphrey, 10 Jan 1970
      2. Adele Prentice, b. 7 Nov 1953 in New Plymouth, NZ. She m. David Paul Williams, 21 Jun 1975.
      3. Jan Prentice, b. 3 Sep 1956 in NZ. She m. David John William Turner, 1 May 1976.
