1. Oren H. Prentice was b. c. 1828 in VT, with both parents b. in VT. By 1862 he was living in WI where a daugher was born, and by 1867 he was living in MN where a son was born. He appears in the 1880 Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN census with his wife and family.
He m. Henrietta, b. c. 1836 in Prussia. Children:
- May Prentice, b. c. 1862, WI.
- Albert Prentice, b. c. 1867, MN. Not in 1930 census.
- Oren Prentice Jr., b. c. 1876, MN. . . . . . . . . [2]
Oren apparently served in the Civil war since Pension Records identify Oren's wife, Henrietta, as the recipient of a Civil War pension.
2. Oren H. Prentice Jr. was b. c. 1876, MN. He appears in the 1920 and 1930 Spokane, Spokane Co., WA census with his wife and family.
He m. Clara M. Cotner, b. c. 1879, AR. Died 21 May 1944, Spokane. Children:
- Fred R. Prentice, b. c. 1901, OR. Not in 1930 census.
- Helen F. Prentice, b. c. 1903, OR. Not home in 1930 census.
- Oren Cotner Prentice, b. 18 Aug 1906, WA. At home in 1930 census. Died 21 Mar 1953, San Diego, CA (per SSDI).
The only clue we have for now is that the 1880 census says that both of Oren's parents were b. in VT. Oren, b. c. 1828 in VT, does not appear in the 1860 WI census (a dau. was b. there in 1860), so it might be that he was still living in VT.
Investigation is continuing.
