1. Joseph P. Prentice was b. c. 1858-9 in MN. By 1885 he had moved to SD, by 1896 to Los Angeles, CA and by 1920 to Seattle, King Co., WA where he appears in the 1920 Seattle census with his wife and family. Not in 1930 census.
He m. Carrie, b. c. 1868 in WI. Children (per 1900 CA and 1920 WA census):
- Raymond T. Prentice, b. c. 1885, SD. He appears in the 1930 census in Chicago, Cook Co., IL as a roomer, unmarried.
- George Prentice, b. c. 1888, SD. Not in 1930 census and may have died young since there is another son of that same name.
- George Prentice, b. c. 1896, CA. Not in 1930 census.
- Lawrence Prentice, b. c. 1899, CA. Not in 1930 census. Not in SSDI.
He does not appear in the 1860 census. However, he may be the Joseph Prentice who appers in the 1870 census in Osceola, Polk Co., WI, son of Wealthy Prentice, b. c. 1812, PA. No husband is shown and may have been a widow; marital status was not included in the 1870 census.
