We tentatively assume he is the same person as the William Prentice shown in the 1900 census who was b. Oct 1830 in Scotland, and d. 23 Nov 1909, Bay City, Bay Co., MI, per Ancestry.com and Ancestry.com . We will continue with that tentative assumption.

William emigrated in 1854 from Scotland to America, settling initially in PA where his son William was b. in 1855. By 1858 he had moved to Bay City, MI. William is bur. in Green Ridge Cem., Bay City. The 1900 Bay City, MI, census shows a widower William Prentice, b. Oct 1830 in Scotland, living with a Polly M. Shorey and as an in-law to Polly's husband, George M. Shorey. He is likely the same William Prentice despite the 7 year difference shown for his birth date, although both are shown as b. in October.

William m. Mary Little, b. c. 1830, Scotland and d.1884, Bay City, Bay Co., MI. She was the dau. of John and Mary Little per her death certificate. Ref: Mary and children per Christine Hadden, email, 31 Jan 2015 .

He was m. to Loke, b. c. 1875, PA. No children were shown. Not in 11930 or 1940 census.

He was b. 13 Sep 1894 in Bay City, Bay Co, MI and d. 21 Feb 1966 in Detroit, Wayne, MI. He was the son of Joseph D. Fortin (b. 1849 and d, 1936) and Marie/Mary Chartrand (1860-1899). 1910 Bay City, Bay Co., MI. Son:

4, Polly M. Prentice, b. Jul 1865, MI. Polly is not shown as a daughter with other siblings, and the family is not shown together in the 1870 and 1880 census. Her showing as a daughter is based on the 1900 census showing her and her husband living with her apparent widowed father, William, in the Bay City census.

Ruby Prentice: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice, Western News, The (Libby, MT) - Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Ruby Wright Prentice, 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, with her partner, Leo Fackler, at her side at their home in Libby. She was born Aug. 1, 1942 in Amite City, La., to Frederick and Elizabeth Schnitker Wright.

Ruby often referred to herself as an Army brat, having lived with her parents in various military bases in Louisiana and Germany. Ruby lived in Arizona for several years before settling in Libby.

Ruby was an active and energetic person, working as a waitress and a bartender. In Ruby's earlier years, you could find her working at The Loading Chute, later called The Mine. She later worked at Beck's Café, The American Legion, and most recently at Libby Elks Lodge. Ruby was devoted to her customers, always recognizing a person when they walked in the door. Efficient, courteous, and dedicated were requirements when on the job. When talking about Ruby, one must make mention of her generosity, for it was one of her best qualities.

Ruby always brought to work with her some kind of munchies, sharing them with her customers and anyone who was hungry. She was especially dedicated to the Libby Elks Lodge. She organized pool teams, playing on both Ladies' Pool and Mixed League teams. She purchased and prepared food for Friday Night Dinners during the summers, even paying for advertising. For this dedication, Ruby was chosen as Employee of the Year in 2013, honored with a plaque that is proudly displayed at the Lodge.

A celebration of life will follow the services at the Libby Elks Lodge at 220 West 4th Street. Online condolence and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
