1. John J. Prentice was b. c. 1885, Scotland, with both parents b. in Scotland. He emigrated in 1907 and appears in the 1920 census in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio with his wife and family. He is there shown as a "A Patern maker" in the "Patern Works Industry." 1930 census as "John E. Prentia" in Saginaw,Saginaw Co., MI, and called a "Pattern Maker" in the "Automobile Industry." 1940 in Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI, b. c. 1887 Scotland, a Pattern Maker with 4 years of college.

He m. as her 2nd husband Emma J. Morey c. 1911. She was b. c. 1883, MI, with her father b. in ME and mother in MI. Curiously, the 1920 census marks her as an alien even though it shows her as b. in MI. Children per 1920 census:

  1. William A. Babb, stepson, b. c. 1902, MI. 1920 at home in Cleveland, OH, with both parents b. in MI.
  2. Arthur J. Prentice, b. c. 1910-1912, MI. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

Living with the family in 1920 is a stepson, William A. Babb, b. c. 1902, MI, with both parents b. in MI.

2. Arthur J. Prentice, b. 31 Jan 1911, Bay City, Bay Co., MI per census and Michigan Death Index , and d. 25 Aug 1974, Carrollton or Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI, and bur. Roselawn Mem. Gardens, Saginaw. There is confustion between his 1920 and 1930 entries:

  1. 1920 at home in Cleveland, OH, and called a son. His entry erroneously shows both of his parents as b. in MI. He is listed below Babb, and the census taker just carried his parents' entry down to Arthur.
  2. 1930 at home in Saginaw, MI, and called a Stepson, b. c. 1910, MI. His own entry shows his father as b. in England although John his (step?)father in 1930 continues to be shown as b. in Scotland. and mother in MI.
  3. 1940 in Saginaw, MI, b. 1911, MI, a Pattern Maker in an an Iron Foundry with 3 years of High School. It does not provide information about his parents.
  4. His Marriage Record shows him as b. c. 1911, Bay MI.

From the 1920 and 1930 entries it appears that Arthur might a stepson of John rather than a son of John. The 1930 census shows Arthur as b. c. 1910 but John as age 26 at first marriage; that would place John's marriage in 1911 (1885+26=1911). However, the 1920 and 1940 census records show Arthur as b. c. 1911 and 1912.

A copy of Arthur's birth certificate would clearly identify his father. However, his marriage record at Ancestry.com identifies his father as Jacob and mother as Emma Morey.

Arthur m. Ann Karas 11 Oct 1932, Saginaw, MI. Dau. of Frank Karas and Pauline Bubulik per their marriage record, cited above. She was b. c. 1915, PA. Children:

  1. Ronald D. Prentice, b. c. 1935, MI. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [3]
  2. William J. Prentice, b. c. 1937, MI.

3. Ronald D. Prentice, b. c. 1935, MI. Living in 2001.

He m. 1st Unknown. Sons:

  1. David Prentice.
  2. Danny Prentice.

He m. 2nd, as her 2nd husband, Shirley Maxine Garrod in 1971. She was b. 17 Aug 1932, Rogers City , MI, and d. 11 Mar 2001 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Her obituary reads as follows:
