Lawrence Prentice, a Black, was b. c. 1872 or 1877 in Nevis, British West Indies. He immigrtated to NY in 1923 per the 1930 census. He appears in the 1930 census in Manhattan, NY, and in the 1940 census in New York, New York Co., NY, with a 6th grade education and with his wife a family. He was a Porter in an office building.
He is shown on the census as m. to Mary, Black, b. c. 1895, Montserrat, British West Indies. Children in 1940 census:
- Gwyneth Jacqueline Prentice, black, b. c. 1914, Nevis. 1930 and 1940 at home in NY.
She m. Mr. Belmaly, black. Children:
- Conrad Belmaly, black, b. c. 1934, NY. 1940 at home in NY.
- William Belmaly, black, b. c. 1935, NY. 1940 at home in NY.
- Richard Prentice, black, b. c. 1927, NY. 1940 at home in NY.
