1. Helen Prentiss was b. c. 1877 in Massachusetts, perhaps in or near Needham, Norfolk Co., MA, where she appears in the 1880 census at age 3 years. She was then living in the household of George O. and Bessie S. Kingsbury. Curiously, she continued living with the Kingsburys through at least 1940 when she was living with their daughters, Isabella S. and Francis M. Kingsbury.
Helen does not appear in the 1900 or 1910 census, but in census years 1920, 1930 and 1940 she is shown as "Single." No children are shown in 1920 and 1930, but curiously in the 1940 census she is shown with children born 1912 through 1921, all of whom are called sons and a daughter and all living with Helen Prentiss in Needham, Norfolk Co., MA, but none appear in the 2013 SSDI:
- Francis W. Prentiss, son, b. c. 1912, MA.
- Frederick T. Prentiss, b. c. 1914, MA.
- George L. Prentiss, b. c. 1916, MA.
- Bertram J. Prentiss, b. c. 1918, MA.
- Marcia C. Prentiss, b. c. 1921, MA.
Also living with the family in 1940 is Irene W. Wanes(?), b. c. 1919, called a "niece." 21
