By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Summer 2009 and Revised 4 Sep 2011

Update of 4 Sep 2011: Percy Prentice is #1(iv)(d), Percy Howard Prentice in our Fall 2000 article entitled Louis Hugh Prentice of Scotland and Canada . That article now replaces this article.

1. Percy Prentice may have been b. c. 1895-1900 at an unknown location, and d. before 2009, perhaps in, or near, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

He m. Myra Agnes Long. She was b. c. 1909 in Prince William, New Brunswich, and d. 2 Feb 2009 in the Wolfville Nursing Home, Kings County, Nova Scotia. She was a daughter of the late Murray Long and Emma Jane Hayward. Her obituary in The Chronicle Harold of 5 Feb 2009 reads as follows:

PRENTICE, Myra Agnes 100, of Wolfville, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009, in Wolfville Nursing Home, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. Born in Prince William, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Emma Jane (Hayward) Long.

She dedicated her life to her family, her church and her home. Son of Percy and Myra:

  1. Rev. Dr. Roger Prentice who in 2009 lived in Wolfville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, Canada.

Who are Percy Prentice's Parents?

Although only a guess for now, but based on obituary references to Halifax and Wolfville, Nova Scotia, it might be Percy was b. in New Brunswick because (1) Myra was b. in New Brunswick, (2) Myrna taught in New Brunswick schools, and (3) Myrna was buried in New Brunswick.

If Percy was b. in New Brunswick, then he might be the Percy H. Prentice shown in the following 1911 census family in Victoria-Madawaska, New Brunswick:

  • Daniel Prentice, 53, b. c. 1858
  • Marguerite Prentice, 35, b. c. 1876
  • George Prentice, 14, b. c. 1897
  • Blanche Prentice, 9, b. c. 1902
  • Percy H. Prentice, 5, b. c. 1906 (Note that Agnes was b. c. 1909, which makes an appropriate age spread.)
