1. John Prentiss was "Colored" and was b. in the West Indies and perhaps1850-1870. In 1913 his daughter, Ann, was living in Winooski, Chittenden Co., VT, but is not known whether John and his wife emigrated to the United States.
Wikipedia tells us that the West Indies Federation (or just West Indies) consisted of around 24 main inhabited islands and approximately 220230 minor offshore islands, islets and cays (some inhabited, some uninhabited). The largest island was Jamaica, located in the far northwest of the Federation. To the southeast lay the second largest island, Trinidad, followed by Barbados (in terms of population), located at the eastern extremity of the Federation. The total population of the West Indies Federation was between 3 and 4 million people, with the majority being of black Caribbean descent.
John m. Mary who also was "Colored" and who was b. in the West Indies. It is not yet known whether she emigrated to the United States. They had 1 or more children, including:
- Ann Prentiss, was "Colored" and was b. c. 1890, also in the West Indies.. In 1913 she was living in Winooski, Chittenden Co., VT. She m. Clarence L. Bluford on 13 Dec 1913 in Essex, Chittenden Co., VT, per Vermont Marriage Records ..
Neither John, Mary, Ann or Clarence appear in U. S. census records.
