We found the following family in Ancestry.com . Here is what we have so far:
1. John Atwater Prentice was b. Sep 1851, OH, with both parents b. in NY. In 1900 he was a Lumber Inspector in Seattle, WA. He appears in the 1920 census in Seattle, King Co., WA. A, with his wife, Charlotte.
He m. Charlotte Van Alstyne in 1900, Seattle, WA. She was b. either Mar 1853 in England, or b. c. 1857-9, Canada, with both parents b. in Canada. They had 1 or more children, including:t
- Mina Louise Prentice, b. Sep 1874, Saginaw, MI. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
- James H. Prentice, b. c. 1881, MI. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [3]

3. James H. Prentice, b. May 1882, Saginaw, MI. Although further investigation is needed for confirmation, he is tentatively identified as the James H. Prentice shown in the SSDI as b. 10 Mar 1881 in MI and d. 12 Jun 1973 in San Diego, CA,. He appears in the 1920 and 1930 Bellingham, Whatcom Co. WA census with his wife and family; the census also shows his father as b. in OH and mother in Canada. Not shown with family in 1930 census and probably deceased.
He m. Anna Faelton who was b. c. 1887, MA. Children per 1920 census:
- Thomas/Hermas Van Alstine Prentice, b. c. 1914, WA. At home in 1930 He might be the Thomas V. Prentice shown in the SSDI who was b. 8 Jan 1913, who obtained his Social Security card in Hawaii, and d. 19 Oct 1995 in Kailua, Honolulu, HI.
- Adele Prentice, b. c. 1915, WA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [4]
- Roma/Romas Prentice, b. 23 Feb 1919, Bellingham, WA. At home in 1930. Unmarried on 3 Oct 1938, age 19, when she appeared on the passenger roster of the ship "Monterey" arriving in Los Angeles, CA from Honolulu, Hawaii.
4. Adele Prentice, b. 17 Feb 1914, WA, and d. 2 Jul 1994, San Diego, CA, per SSDI. At home in 1930.
She m. Mr. Gattward
James Prentice is probably the son of John A. Prentice (b. c. 1853, OH) and Charlotte (b. c. 1857, Canada) who appear in the 1920 Seattle census and, if so, is a descendant of Samuel Prentice of Stonington, CT.
