Minnie is called a mother-in-law to Roy, seeming to suggest that Minnie is Maud's mother. In the 1930 Pittsburgh census, he is age 59, single, and living alone.

She m. Samuel T. McDonald. He was b. Feb 1850, PA, with both parents b. in PA.

The only clue we have so far is based on James appearing in the 1850 census in Moon, Allegheny Co., PA.

A review of 1850 Moon census shows another possible brother, John H. Prentice, b. c. 1814, PA, with his wife and childen:
