1. John Prentice was bap. on 2 October 1748 Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. John is the son of Thomas Prentice of Lesmahagow, Scotland and Joan Davie (per Glasgow records), about whom we have an article in our Summer 2000 issue.

He may, or may not, be the John Prentice who m. Elizabeth Stuart on 25 Apr 1777 in Lesmahagow (per Glasgow Records) and he may, or may not, have lived in Glasgow, Scotland and later emigrated to New York about 1780.
