Update of 4 Apr 2005: John Prentice of Glasgow is a descendant of John Prentice of Carluke , discussed in our Spring 2003 issue.
We are helping Pat McKenzie in tracing her Prentice roots. Here is what we have so far:

1. Charles Prentice may have been b. c. 1830-40. He m. Elizabeth ms. McCowat. They had 1 or more children, including:

  1. John McCowat Gardiner Prentice, b. 18 Nov. 1861 in Glasgow. He became headmaster of Pollok Academy in Glasgow. Ellis Island Records show that in 1924, John, widowed and a retired School Master, arrived in the Port of New York, USA on 7 Jul 1924 for the purpose of vising his daughter. Daughters shown in the Ellis Island Record were Sarah and Elizabeth, below.

He m. Sarah McNab on 2 July 1885 in Pollokshaws, Glasgow. She was b. 18 Aug. 1856 in Keills, Argyll. She was a Gaelic speaker. Children:
