Kerry Prentice, by email of 9 Jul 2002, brings to our attention the following family:
1. William Prentice was b. c. 1806 in a county other than Middlesex (the 1841 census form showing William's residence in Shoreditch, Middlesex, asks "Whether Born in Same County" and says "N", for "No").
He m. Agnes Proctor on 29 Jul 1838 in Allhallows London Wall, London, England. She was b. c. 1816 in a county other than Middlesex.. In 1840 he was a carpenter living at 1 Clifton Street North, Shoreditch, Middlesex. They appear in the 1841 census in Holywell and Moorfields Dist. 13, St. Leonard Shoreditch, Middlesex. They had 1 or more children, including:
- William Prentice, b. 25 Feb 1840, Shoreditch, Middlesex.
No William Prentice, with a wife named Agnes, appears in the 1851 or 1861 census, and no Samuel Prentice, b. in Middlesex, appears in the 1851 or 1861 census.
A search of the IGI does not disclose any other Prentices attending Allhallows London Wall in the appropriate time frame.
However, the 1841 census shows, living with William and Agnes, Samuel Prentice, b. c. 1786, Middlesex. It is unclear whether he is William's father; if not, he may be an older brother or uncle.. Also shown in the household, appear to be (the handwriting is faint and hard to read):
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1806, Middlesex
- John Prentice, b. c. 1816 in a county other than Middlesex.
