Spring 2001 and Revised 28 Oct 2009

Update of 28 Oct 2009: Thomas Prentice is #4 in our Summer 2006 article entitled George Prentice of Scotland . That article now replaces this article.

The Kansas City Star of 9 Oct 1992 has an obituary mentioning Thomas Prentice and his wife, Mary We do not have birth dates for them, but they were likely b. c. 1910-38. Their children include:

  1. Betty S. Prentice, b. c. 1959. She d. in east Kansas City on 7 Oct 1992, at Independence Regional Health Center. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. She attended the National Career Institute. She was a member of the Kansas City Baptist Temple. She m. Jeff C. Baldwin of Avondale in Clay County. She also had a son, perhaps as a single mother, named:

    1. Jeff Prentice.

  2. William Blaine Prentice, Kansas City.

  3. Kathy Prentice who m. Mr. Cowan, Kansas City.

  4. Barbara A. Prentice who m. Mr. Kriegh, Raytown.

Who are Thomas Prentice's Parents?

If Thomas was born before 1920 and in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO., our copy of the 1920 Kansas City census does not show a Thomas Prentice. However, there is a Thomas Prentiss who was b. c. 1909, son of Frank P. Prentiss and his wife, Mary. Frank was b. c. 1874 in IL. He may, or may not, be the same Thomas Prentice.

Our 1920 MO census shows a Thomas F. Prentiss, b. c. 1909 in MO and in 1920 living in Kansas City, Ward 9, Jackson Co., MO. He would have been about 50 when Thomas' daughter, Betty S. Prentice, was b. c. 1959. The different spelling of his surname may, or may not, be significant. He does not appear in the SSDI as of Feb 2006.
