1. John Prentice was b. Oct 1856 in PA.

He m. Elizabeth Cory who was b. Aug 1860 in MN. "Cory" is apparently her middle name and may stand for "Cora." They appear in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 San Francisco, CA census. Children:

1. Isabel Prentice, b. Jun 1883, PA. She does not appear at home in the 1910 census and was likely by then married.
2. Elizabeth Prentice, b. Nov 1886, CA. She does not appear at home in the 1910 census and was likely by then married.
3. Margaret Prentice, b. Oct 1890, CA. She was living at home in the 1910 census. She does not appear at home in the 1920 census and was likely by then married.

In the 1920 census, John was living with Carl E. Nelson and called Carl's father in law. It is unknown which of John's daughters Carl married. No other persons are shown in the household.

Although only a guess at this point, he might be the John Prentice, b. c. 1856-1857 in PA, son of William Prentice, b. c. 1822, PA, and his wife, Mary, b. c. 1826, PA, who appear in the 1860 Lancaster, Butler Co., PA census. Other children shown in that census are:

1. Sarah Pentice, b. c. 1847, PA.
2. Annie E. Prentice, b. c. 1852, PA.
