Update of 8 May 2004: This article has now been replaced by our Summer 2004 article about Samuel Prentiss of Baltimore, MD .
1. Charles M. Prentiss was b. Sep 1860 in MD. He is not in the 1880 census, but does appear in the 1900 Baltimore County, MD census without a wife, and in the 1920 Baltimore Co. census with his 2nd wife, Sarah L., b. c. 1871, MD. Children shown those census records:
- Samuel H. Prentiss, b. Sep 1886, MD. In 1920 census.
- Harry G. Prentiss, b. Sep 1889, MD. In 1920 census.
- Arabelle Prentiss, b. Nov 1892, MD. In the 1920 census she is surnamed
"Leslie" but no husband is shown. Also shown are her daughters:
- Elmira L. Leslie, b. c. 1913, MD.
- Ivy M. Leslie, b. c. 1915, MD
- Ruth I. Ireland, b. c. 1902, PA, called a step-daugter.
- Hugh E. Ireland, b. c. 1905, PA, called a step-son. He is probably the Hugh Ireland shown in the SSDI as b. 10 Apr 1904 and d. Dec 1976 in Fremont, Steuben Co., IN.
- Anna M. Prentiss, b. c. 1914, MD.
All though additional investigation is needed for confirmation, Charles' parents are likely Samuel Prentiss, b. c. 1816, and his wife, Susan, b. c. 1825, who appear in the 1870 Baltimore, MD census. In addition to Charles, other siblings shown are:
- Samuel Prentiss, b. c. 1853
- Harry Prentis, b. c. 1858
- Anna Prentiss, b. c. 1865.
