Prenticeanna Quote of the Day: An Illinois editor, speaking of one of the writers for the "Journal," claims to be "able to endure most kinds of people," but says "he can't bear a natural fool." Unfortunately his "maternal ancester" [sic] could. [quote no. 152] About Prenticeanna quotes: This quote was taken from George Dennison Prentice's 1860 book titled "Prenticeanna." This book is a collection of commentaries and quotes published by the author in the "Louisville Journal" and the "New York Ledger." As noted by the author in 1860, many of these quotes may seem inappropriate or out of context today, and some seem even more so today (140 years later), but they do provide an interesting insight into days gone by. I will attempt to provide a new quote each day. There are over 1800 entries in this book, which should last for about 5 years! For more information about this book, see the Preface.
