Barbara's email of 16 Jan 2011 establishes that Loren Lee Prentice is the son of Marvin Cecil Prentice and Ruby Melissa Myer and a descendant of Isaac Prentice of Sheffield, MA , who, in turn, is a descendant of of Henry Prentice of Cambridge, MA, discussed in his eBook.That article and eBook now replace this article.

    The Kansas City Star of 4 Jan 2000 contains an obituary for Loren Lee Prentice of Kansas City, MO. Here is what we have so far:

    1. Loren Lee Prentice, was b. c, 1933, Kansas City, MO and d. 1 Jan 2000, at Bridgewood Nursing Home, Kansas City, MO. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He had been a lineman with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and had served in the Air Force.

    He m. Susan, later divorced and in 2000 she lived in Grandview, MO. Children, probably b. after 1955:

    1. Clifford Eugene Prentice, St. Joseph, MO.
    2. Michael Steven Prentice, Kansas City, MO.
    3. Brenda Prentice. She m. Mr. Crouch, Riverside, MO.
    4. Laura Lea Prentice. She m. Mr. Callen, Kansas City, MO.
    5. Carolyn Prentice.
    6. Marvin Cecil Prentice, b. 22 Jul 1951, probably MO, obtained his SS# in MO, and d. 7 Feb 1982 per sSSDI.

  • Lily Prentice, b. after 1930. She m. Allen Horn, Gladstone, MO.

    Who are Loren Lee Prentice's Parents?

    We note that Loren Lee Prentice named his son, Marvin and that there is a Marvin Prentice, b. c. 1906, KS, shown in the 1930 census in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO (both of his parents b. in KS) with his wife, Ruby Myer, b. c. 1913, KS (both of her parents b. in IA), dau. of Nora Myer in whose home they were living in the 1930 census; no father is shown..

    If the foregoing is correct, then the 1906 Marvin Prentice's parents are Luther Franklin Prentice and Mary Elizabeth Sprague. Luther is a descendant of Isaac Prentice of Sheffield, MA whose roots we are researching.

    Investigation is continuing.
