1. Henry Leslie Prentice was b. 1843 in an unknown location and d. 7 Sep 1895 in Myrrhee South, Victoria, Australia. His obituary reads as follows:
Wangaratta Chronicle Wednesday 11/09/1895
"MYRRHEE. - Death of Mr Henry PRENTICE. - The sudden death of Mr. H. L. Prentice, of Myrrhee South, was heard of with much regret on Saturday. The deceased had not shown serious signs of ill-health, and on Friday evening ate his tea as usual. After tea he sat down in the kitchen, and was smoking and reading a book. His two daughters were present, and deceased conversed with them and seemed in good health and spirits. Between 8 and 9 o'clock his heavy breathing attracted the attention of his daughters, and one of them touched him on the shoulder, saying 'Papa.' He then put his head down on the table and gave three gasps, and when his daughter lifted him up he fell backwards into her arms and died. He had not complained of bad health lately, but it was noticed that he was depressed in spirits at times.
Mr Prentice had been a widower for the past twelve years, and was 52 years of age. As a doctor had not attended him recently the coroner, Mr C. L. Dobbin, held an inquiry into the cause of death on Sunday, and Misses Edith and Catherine Sarah Prentice, daughters of deceased, related the circumstances, as stated above.
Dr F. J. McCardel gave evidence. He said he had examined the body externally and found no marks of violence or injury to account for death, the deceased having been physically strong. After hearing the evidence and from careful inquiry he was convinced that death resulted from syncope, following upon valvular disease of the heart.
Constable C. A. Robertson, Hedi, also gave evidence, and the coroner recorded a verdict that deceased died from syncope as stated by the medical practitioner."
